OBSTETRICS

The WHO defines Essential Obstetric Care as the term used to describe the elements of obstetric care needed for the management of normal and complicated pregnancy, delivery and the postpartum period.

STAGES OF OBSTETRIC CARE

ANTENATAL CARE

INVESTIGATIONS
We conduct in depth history taking with necessary investigations that may help in the timely detection and treatment of any potential  diseases in pregnancy (like thyroid disorders, gestational diabetes and hypertension) in an effort to reduce risk to the mother and child.

COUNSELING
We provide counseling sessions to educate the couple on the various safety concerns during pregnancy: what to avoid and practices that help, in order to ensure a safe pregnancy.

ROUTINE SCANS
We schedule regular scans to monitor the health and growth of the baby through each stage of pregnancy.

NUTRITION
Since food and vitamin intake is a vital aspect of pregnancy, we have trained nutritionists available to help structure a healthy and balanced diet.

LABOUR CARE

PRE & POST LABOUR CARE
We have a pre labour ward with facilities for intensive fetal monitoring and management of high risk pregnancies. Ours is a 75 bedded hospital, with recovery rooms available for post labour needs.

LABOUR CARE
Both low risk and high risk deliveries are efficiently catered to in our labour room which is well equipped with various birthing facilities that help the patient through a safe delivery.

NEONATAL CARE
Babies are received into an efficient new born unit, equipped with warmer beds and phototherapy units. They are constantly monitored by our pediatrician and neonatal staff nurses, with great care.

POST NATAL CARE

COUNSELING
We provide counseling sessions to improve bonding between mother and child, promoting exclusive breast feeding, qualifying our hospital as “Baby Friendly”.

FITNESS
Our state of the art fitness center, run by trained female physiotherapists, teach postpartum exercises and fitness regimes for the mothers, to shed the excess weight and get back in shape.

FAMILY PLANNING
We counsel our patients on all forms of contraceptive measures and family planning and spacing between the next child birth.

HIGH RISK PREGNANCIES

Pregnancies can suffer from complications due to pre existing conditions and diseases (like Hypertension and diabetes) or due to unhealthy uterine environment, like Intra Uterine Growth Restriction (IUGR), which restricts blood flow to the fetus. Such pregnancies require intensive fetal monitoring and special care. Cases of multiple pregnancy (Twins, Triplets) also require close attention and preventive treatment to avoid preterm labour. Our obstetrics and neonatal teams are well equipped with the experience and the facilities to handle such cases.

SURGICAL PROCEDURES

In some cases, these gynecological issues are often managed through elective or emergency surgeries. Our surgical team is experienced and perform the following surgeries on a regular basis:

  • Ectopic Pregnancy Surgery (Laparoscopic / Open)
  • C – Section (Elective / Emergency)
  • Cervical Cerclage

OBESITY & PREGNANCY

Obesity during pregnancy can cause many complications, leading to a high risk pregnancy. Hight risk pregnancies can cause harm to both mother and child and may result in still birth, pre term labour or miscarriage. Despite the risks, it is possible to have a safe and healthy pregnancy through strict diet and exercise regimens.

There is clear therapeutic benefit in weight reduction. Recent studies have proven beyond doubt, that even 5 – 10 % reduction from preexisting BMI can enhance fertility and reduce the risk of abortion. With these studies in mind, we felt the need to offer our patients with fitness guidance, through exercise and nutrition, exclusively for women.
